Provide Comfort

Can you provide cites for a service star for Provide Comfort? AS best I can tell, Provide Comfort was included in the Cease-Fire campaign, thus not entitled to a separate star.

2016 change in ribbon spec?

This article states the spec for the SWASM ribbon was changed in 2016, and there's a picture of the "new spec" ribbon showing widened central green and black stripes. However, Wikipedia is the only place that seems to be aware of this change in spec. Indeed, when you click on the source for the image of the "new" ribbon [1], it leads to a pic of the "old" ribbon. The Army Institute of Heraldry still features the "old" ribbon [2], so apparently the Army hasn't gotten the word, either. I realize there are links to the DOD spec sheets as citations for the change, but could these be mistakes? DOD has been known to make mistakes before. It just seems odd that the only place that seems to acknowledge this change in spec is Wikipedia. Eastcote ( talk) 19:17, 28 November 2017 (UTC) reply

How does that help? I've seen them already. But like I said in my comment from seven years ago, it doesn't seem that anyone has bothered to inform the military services that the ribbon has changed. The only place that acknowledges the change is Wikipedia.
Then visit any PX/BX, and see what they have on their shelves. I worked for US Army TACOM, which is the parent command for the heraldry center, and which manages the supply of medals. TACOM is still stocking the "old" version. So, maybe there was a new spec sheet in 2016, but it apparently hasn't been paid any attention, and the actual ribbon in stock with the military and the various commercial outlets is still, after eight years, the "old" ribbon. What should Wikipedia reflect in this article? Reality, or a supposed change that apparently hasn't happened? Eastcote ( talk) 16:27, 1 February 2024 (UTC) reply
