At * thefreedictionary.com/snollygoster it suggests that an origin for this term might be the Pennsylvania Dutch schnelle geeschter. I understand this is a German variant, so the etymology is similar; can anyone comment?

I've also come across snoligoster, which might be related.

Update/RS for Fallout 76

Fallout 76 has been released, so the mention of it here should be in the present tense now. And we should support the snallygaster's appearance in that game with a reliable source. This story would appear to do so - but its inaccessible for me (I'm only seeing its preview in Google) due to its GDPR concerns. I'd appreciate it if someone outside the EU could verify that the story does indeed support the claim, and if so add it as a reference to that section of this article. -- Finlay McWalter··–· Talk 22:55, 21 November 2018 (UTC) reply
