Is it a tonal language? Badagnani 20:08, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
Yes, it is tonal, but it is not a language of Zimbabwe. It is only spoken in Angolan (unless among refugee populations in Zimbabwe or elsewhere). I am in the process of trying to edit the current page, which is replete with factual errors, so be patient. Quilombeiro 15:05, 23 August 2007 (UTC)Quilombeiro
If you are a native speaker of Kimbundu then you can help translate this template into your own language:

North Mbundu language → Kimbundu – The language spoken by the Ambundu is generally known as "Kimbundu" (language code kmb) rather than "North Mbundu language". "Kimbundu" is the more usual name, it is the name used in academic papers, and it matches the ISO 639-2 language code. Google scholar: 2,160 hits for "Kimbundu"; 6 hits for "North Mbundu". -- Bejnar ( talk) 04:17, 1 October 2012 (UTC)
Agree entirely. I have been working on Angola for several decades, and (except for en:WP) have never ever come acress the expression "North Mbundu language"; it is always "Kimbundu" (as it is " Kikongo" for the Bakongo: in this part of Africa, "ki-" is the prefix used to form the designation of the language spoken by the respective people). -- Aflis ( talk) 09:04, 1 October 2012 (UTC)
