Miss Ecuador 1970

This year, the franchise for Miss Universe 1970 was in dispute between El Telégrafo and Diario El Universo. Finally, Diario El Universo selected the Ecuadorian representative for Miss Universe 1970 through an event, Miss Universe Ecuador 1970, held on May 23 in Guayaquil where all the girls were from the Coast Region. [[El Telégrafo (Ecuador)|El Telégrafo], owner of the rights for Miss World, select her contestant through Miss Ecuador. For this reason, Sofía Monteverde must be numbered as the 16th Miss Ecuador since she was elected by Miss Ecuador Organization; on the other hand, Zoila Montesinos was and must be titled as Miss Universe Ecuador but not as Miss Ecuador.

  • There's a need to add Miss Ecuador Earth in the "See also section" of Miss Ecuador article since both pageants contained the term "Miss Ecuador". Is it allowed or acceptable to hyperlink an article title in the "See also" section of another article with almost the same title and with the same event category i.e., putting Miss Ecuador Earth in the "See also" section of Miss Ecuador article?-- Richie Campbell ( talk) 00:26, 8 October 2010 (UTC) reply

I don't see why it couldn't be as they're separate entities. I would be opposed to any general rule that blindly prevented similarly named pages to be linked in "See also". That being said, in this particular case—since Miss Ecuador Earth does not seem directly related to Miss Ecuador—it is likely better to use hatnote as opposed to a "See also" link. I can understand linking to Miss Universe, Miss World, or Miss International since they would further the understanding of the subject, but the navboxes take care of them. — Ost ( talk) 18:18, 26 October 2010 (UTC) reply
I agree with you, Ost. However, an editor deleted the hatnote you put in place citing WP:PTM and WP:REPEATLINK rather than participating in this discussion. "Miss Ecuador" is the title or name being used by a candidate from Ecuador to compete internationally (e.g., "Miss Ecuador Earth" is being addressed as "Miss Ecuador" in Miss Earth pageant HERE). Should the hatnote be reverted or just make a Miss Ecuador Disambiguation?-- Richie Campbell ( talk) 00:28, 5 November 2010 (UTC) reply
