How did this important topic end up with such an awful (and too short) article? - 1 April 2009

Calling Sellers a 'leading historian' is a little ridiculous. He is more of a historical commentator than any sort of historian. His progressive and postmodern philosophy leaks into every aspect of his work. He judges the actions of antebellum Americans instead of looking at things in context or simply providing all the facts. A historian provides information not conjecture. He also cannot comprehend free government and free markets coexisting. Plus, his point that capitalism triumphed over democracy doesn't even make sense.
