Date of birth

We say 17 June 1952. Is there a source for June? Our cited source for the lead sentence is her main page at WorldCat, which supports only children's writer and illustrator (and more).

Our External link Marie-Louise Gay fonds at Library and Archives Canada (LAC) gives only 1952 in its short biography (in French). Elsewhere LAC says --or encodes, or VIAF encodes from LAC data-- 1952-08-17 [1].

English and French

Following the one biographical sentence we now say, "She has received numerous awards for her written and illustrated works in both French and English, including ...".

Is there any award for books written in French that she has won (we identify none)? Has she won any generally French-language award (we name her awards only in English)?

Does she write picture book texts in both English and French, separately published? Or create bilingual picture books? Either way, we should explain in prose and identify books of either kind in the list of works. Has she received awards for books such as those or those?

In her own 2010 list, Published Works [ ref name=CANSCAIP ], there are both English and French titles and some notations "translated by the author" where she is the author. There are a few listings in this format:
  • Qui a peur de Loulou ?(Who's afraid of Loulou?), VLB Editeur, 1994, Montreal, Theatre for children, 111 pages.
I don't know whether that is the tile in boldface, thus evidently a bilingual work, or whether she means only to give English translation of the French title, which should be styled something like "Qui a peur de Loulou ?' [Who's afraid of Loulou?]".
I suppose "Theatre for children" is her annotation, meaning the content is a children's play. And I added this one alone to our list Marie-Louise Gay#Works, with that annotation. -- P64 ( talk) 18:02, 30 July 2015 (UTC) reply

Lizzy's Lion

The book Lizzy's Lion (1984) is listed under the "Standalone books authored" heading. Lizzy's Lion was written by Dennis Lee. I believe this book should be moved to the "Books illustrated only" heading? Clonewolf ( talk) 03:35, 27 April 2024 (UTC) reply
