Same as Contitional Independence?

This seems to be the same as conditional independence, except that the third variable (the one conditioned on) is latent. Maybe this article can be incorporated there? Agreed, it seems to be nothing more than an instance of conditional independence. But with that said, I don't think it's a problem to keep this article separate because it does try to explain in terms of latent variables, which aren't even mentioned in the conditional independence article.
