My categorization is ableist

I'm primarily known for my software and technical career, not for being a media personality or a "speaker" (I have never even given a paid speech). Distilling my career to some activism in 2019 is unfair and ableist in my view.

Even if I'd be the only one in a category called something like "Science and technology" that's still more appropriate than the current wording. Psiĥedelisto ( talkcontribs) please always ping! 05:28, 7 March 2022 (UTC) reply

@ Psiĥedelisto: I agree that you're more known for your technical career. And I think it's alright for you to be the only one in a category so I put you under "Technology". If there is a scientist in the future then it can be changed to "Science and technology". Currently there is also only one under "Royalty" and some Wikipedia articles about places only list a single "Notable person" in their own section if there are no other notable people. But I don't think that your categorization as activist is necessarily "ableist".
You were added as an "Other" category in 2015 in this edit [1]. Then in 2017 moved to "Activists and speakers" in this edit [2]. The editor who changed it might have thought that there shouldn't only be one person in a category and thought "Activists and speakers" was the best fit. They might not have known about you before seeing that NY Times article which doesn't mention 8chan nor include many details about your career. So then they click on the Wikipedia article about you at the time which said "Brennan himself became a prominent GamerGate advocate, being interviewed about 8chan users' involvement in harassment of Brianna Wu on The David Pakman Show, and asked to debate about Gamergate on HuffPost Live and Al Jazeera America." Which can be considered activism and speaking. IntellectualGiant2 ( talk) 16:37, 9 March 2022 (UTC) reply
@ IntellectualGiant2: First of all, thank you. Second of all, I am not calling any editor ableist, I am calling the content ableist— Wikipedia:Content not contributor. I routinely accidentally write ableist things myself, and all sorts of other problematic phraseology, all of us do, it is natural. For the very reasons you stated—lack of knowledge is certainly a big problem. For example, you lack the knowledge that AJAM lied to me about what they were making a documentary about, and that is why I have never appeared in any disability related media since 2013, and severely restrict verite footage, and refuse most questions about my disability.
