Why do we still use the biased expression "girl" groups?

Hi, I don't think that the word "girl" is an appropriate way to refer to women singing in musical groups. - If other editors agree or don't come up with a neutral description, I would rename this article in about two weeks as 'List of women singing in musical groups'. - Of ourse, that would still leave us with renaming the Catergory:Girl groups, but maybe this can be done with the help of a bot? Munfarid1 ( talk) 06:52, 18 April 2021 (UTC) reply

@ Munfarid1: Please read WP:COMMONNAME. If you want the article title to be changed, you’ll have to demonstrate that reliable sources more commonly use the term “women singing in musical groups” to refer to these sort of acts over “girl group”. For the record, I object to your proposed title change as no reliable sources have been provided. For such a controversial name change, please follow the WP:RM#CM process. Bennv123 ( talk) 07:15, 18 April 2021 (UTC) reply
First, thanks @ Bennv123: for your information on the necessary WP:RM#CM process. WP:COMMONNAME does not, to my understanding, give enough guidance for a unanimously acceptable common name, as this has changed in recent time. - As I don't have the time to request a single page move, I will leave this task for somebody else. Maybe somebody from the WikiProject Wiki Loves Women will be able to do this? Munfarid1 ( talk) 09:23, 18 April 2021 (UTC) reply
Hello @ Gerda Arendt:, maybe you know someone, who shares my view on this, and who knows how to request a single page move without starting a tiresome discussion with Wikipedians, who might oppose this change of, in my opinion, sexist expression. (I can't imagine, for example, to call The Supremes a "girl group", but they are named in this list.)
On the page of Writing about women of the WikiProject Wiki Loves Women, I found this statement, which seems, however, not to be a hard and fast wp guideline: "Do not refer to adult women as girls or ladies,..." - Thanks for your well-informed advice, as always!
