Confusing intro
The intro paragraph seems to have become hopelessly edited-by-committee. The 2005 version
https://en.wikipedia.org/?title=KGB&oldid=17734506 gave a succinct summary of what the KGB was and its founding & end. The current version is a set of random, disjoint facts that do not serve as an introduction. Any objections to a revert of the intro paragraph to roughly the 2005 version, and a move of the disjoint facts (South Ossetia's KGB spinoff, etc) down into the article? --

Spelling error?
Shouldn't "Комитет Государственной Безопасноти" in the sidebar be "Комитет Государственной Безопасности"?
Vladmir Putin
Is it worth mentioning Putin's name in this article?

I don't think he was senior enough.--
