Ralph Early or Ralph Earl

The artist who painted Andrew Jackson's portrait, mentioned at the end of this article, was named Ralph E. W. Earl (not Early). The Picture on this page is Col. John Donelson's son Capt. John Donelson!!!!

Please correct. This is a common error. I do have a copy of a sketch of Col. John Donelson by a contemporary but I do not know how to add it to this page. If you don't believe me, contact The Hermitage historian. Col. John Donelson is my fifth great grandfather through two of his daughters and I have done extensive research. I certainly would add more content to this. He left a journal of the journey he led on flatboats from the Watauga settlement to Nashville which President Teddy Roosevelt highly praised. And his is the first signature on the very important Cumberland Conpact which the settlers signed when they formed what is now Nashville. There is a large statue of Col. John Donelson and James Robertson on the Cumberland River in downtown Nashville. So, I have a copy of a sketch by a contemporary and a copy of his signature.
