In the literature, the "G" in Girsu is always spelled with a diacritic, such as G̃ or Ĝ, and pronounced /ŋ/. The title of the article should reflect that this is a different "G" than in, say, Gilgamesh.
I'd like to open discussion on spelling this city Ngirsu, reflecting pronounciation, or G̃irsu, if diacritics aren't minded. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 144.92.234.20 ( talk) 18:58, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

Sumerophile, do you have any reputable sources that use your spelling? NJMauthor ( talk) 21:28, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

Possibly the most interesting thing I've seen come out of archaeology in Irawq in recent years. Ploversegg ( talk) 05:06, 14 February 2021 (UTC)
