I slightly disagree with the orignator of the term FOBit. I believe it is a portmanteau of FOB and Hobbit and I also believe it was around before the timeframe said in this article. I could be wrong. That is why I would like to see a citation. I'm glad it was brought up though. -- JAYMEDINC 00:32, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
The article doesn't do a good job of explaining how a US base would be considered a FOB. I think the answer has to do with their "tactical" nature as the intro paragraph suggests, but I think it would be good to explain this more precisely. 70.251.147.224 ( talk) 20:22, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
My understanding is that FOBs are usually supported primarily by a specific MOB. Is this true, or not? Can we speak to that in the article? If it's true, can we document these supporting relationships to the listed FOBs? 70.251.147.224 ( talk) 20:22, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
I propose that we move the FOBs in Afghanistan section to a new article called List of forward operating bases as the withdrawal is coming to an end (mostly) and that this article should be more focused on what a forward operating base is and does
Any suggestions?
