Hi there, I am working with Edmund de Waal and would like to request an addition to his page, as there is some missing information. As I am working with him and have a COI, I am hoping that someone in the community will be kind enough to assist.

De Waal is also a Trustee of the Victoria & Albert Museum, London [1] and of the Saturday Club, an educational charity for young people [3]. I have completed a copy-edit, clean- up, general informational and reference edit of the Edmund de Waal entry; addressing the flagged issues and have removed the "A major contributor to this article appears to have a close connection with its subject. It may require cleanup to comply with Wikipedia's content policies, particularly neutral point of view. Please discuss further on the talk page. (July 2016)" template from the top of the entry.

Hi there, I am working with Edmund de Waal's studio and would like to request some revisions to his page, as there is some missing information, some incorrect information, and some information that could be better represented. As I have a COI, I am hoping that someone in the community will be kind enough to assist. I'll list the requests below along with sources, there are a fair few items so thank you in advance for your patience. If it would be better to list these as individual requests, please do advise.

Introduction section: We propose amending as follows so that the text better represents de Waal's work as an artist as well as a writer: "Edmund Arthur Lowndes de Waal, CBE (born 10 September 1964) is a contemporary English artist, master potter and author. He is known for his large-scale installations of porcelain vessels often created in response to collections and archives or the history of a particular place. His installation Signs & Wonders (2009) is on permanent display in the cupola of the V&A Museum in London ^[1]. De Waal's book The Hare with Amber Eyes was awarded the Costa Book Award for Biography, Royal Society of Literature Ondaatje Prize in 2011 and Windham–Campbell Literature Prize for Non-Fiction in 2015. De Waal's second book The White Road, tracing his journey to discover the history of porcelain, was released in 2015. In 2021, Letters to Camondo was published in multiple translations and accompanied by an exhibition at the Musée Nissim de Camondo in Paris. ^[2]"

Early Life section: In the following sentence please remove the reference to John de Waal being the husband of author Kit de Waal as they are no longer married. "De Waal's siblings include barrister John de Waal (husband of author Kit de Waal)"

Art & Ceramics section: De Waal is no longer a member of the Royal Mint Advisory Committee so suggestion to change the sentence relating to this to the following: "Between 2012 and 2022, de Waal was an appointed member of the Advisory Committee for the Royal Mint"

Please also add:

In 2021, de Waal became a fellow of the Royal Society of Literature. ^[3]

Writing section: Suggest adding the following two sentences to the end of paragraph two.

"In 2016, The Hare with Amber Eyes was chosen as the Independent Bookshop Week’s Book of the Decade ^[4]."

"In 2021, 100,000 free copies of the book were distributed across Vienna as part of the city’s Eine STADT. Ein BUCH initiative. ^[5]"

Suggest amending paragraph three as follows to share information about the donation of the Ephrussi family archive to the Jewish Museum in Vienna as well as the subsequent exhibition which took place at the Jewish Museum in New York.

"In November 2019, the Jewish Museum Vienna opened The Ephrussis. Travel in Time ^[6], an exhibition centered around the Ephrussi Family Archive which was donated to the museum by the de Waal family in January 2018. The archive includes hundreds of photographs, notebooks, manuscripts, diaries and letters documenting the family’s history from Odessa to Paris and Vienna; then to their migration as refugees as the Second World War forced them to seek asylum in the United Kingdom, the US and Mexico, and onto Japan and other countries. A subsequent exhibition took place at the Jewish Museum in New York between November 2021 – May 2022. Titled The Hare with Amber Eyes after de Waal’s memoir, the exhibition was designed by architects Diller, Scofidio + Renfro and brought together pieces from the Ephrussi’s collections from across the world, including the group of Japanese netsuke through which the family’s story is told. ^[7]"

Request to add additional information to the final paragraph about the book Letters to Camondo as follows:

"In April 2021, the first edition of de Waal’s book, Lettres à Camondo, was published by Musée des Arts Décoratifs (MAD) in Paris. The UK edition was published by Chatto & Windus later that same month ^[8], followed by several other translations. The book is a series of letters written to the historical figure, Count Moïse de Camondo (1860-1935), the owner of a Parisian palace on the rue de Monceau and neighbour to the author’s forebears, the Ephrussi. When the Count died in 1935, the house and its collections were bequeathed to France as the Musée Nissim de Camondo, in honour of his son who was killed in World War I ^[9]. Six months after the publication of Lettres à Camondo, an exhibition of the same title was staged by the museum. Unaltered since opening its doors to the public in 1936, this was the first temporary exhibition of a living artist to be held there ^[10]."
