He was head of JSOC on 9/11 and was an extremely important leader in the very first operations in Afghanistan. He does not seem to be held in high regard by many of the sources in Sean Naylor's book "Relentless Strike" and some of them go so far as to blame him and Franks for letting Omar and UBL escape to Tora Bora and then Pakistan.
