Obama's support?

"Offshore wind farms are a key part of the Obama administration, ..."

This seems like a considerable overstatement. The other day, Interior Secretary Salazar spoke about the potential of offshore wind, but to the best of my knowledge, there isn't even the beginning of a plan to develop it.

The first citation from Businessweek now redirects to a 404 error on Bloomberg. A search for the article title turned up no hits. This citation is intended to support the claim that there was a project called the "Delaware Offshore Wind Farm" but there is no record of this. I believe it refers to the Bluewater Wind Farm and have recommended, on that talk page ( /info/en/?search=Bluewater_Wind) that the useful material on this page be worked into the Bluewater wind page. -- Jellyfish343 ( talk) 18:01, 21 February 2020 (UTC) reply

Jellyfish343, I was able to easily locate the article by searching Google for its headline: [1]. It is behind a paywall though. Note that in general, dead links should not be deleted just because they are dead, see WP:KDL, and I would assume this is especially true for a print magazine article that happens to have a URL provided. The "Delaware Offshore Wind Farm" also has 1,400 results on Google, and so I am not sure if it is appropriate to merge into a different article. – wallyfromdilbert ( talk) 18:50, 21 February 2020 (UTC) reply
Wallyfromdilbert,Thanks for that input about dead links. I didn't know that. Thanks for undoing the edit. As for searching for Delaware Wind Farm on google, is it possible you are getting hits because it's a very generic phrase, not a title of a specific proposed wind farm? I've looked and can't find an actual or proposed farm with that title. You know, I suspect that the original author of this page just titled it "Delaware Offshore Wind Farm" to refer to a a generic thing. But in reality, this is referring to Bluewater Wind. What do you think?

Jellyfish343, I don't think the term is something generic, as the sources all seem to be discussing the same specific proposal. I have not looked into them enough to determine what the "official" name or most commonly used name is, but the Delaware proposal for a wind farm is separate from the company called Bluewater Wind, although it looks like the proposal was to have Bluewater Wind build the wind farm. Could both of these topics be covered on the same page? I'm not entirely opposed, but I'm not sure, and I think comments from some editors who know more about merging may be useful. The page WP:PM has additional information about how to request a merger that will allow other editors to find it easier. I have not done that process myself, but I can try to help if you want to take a go at it. (Btw, I also updated the dead link in the article to a working one). – wallyfromdilbert ( talk) 21:25, 21 February 2020 (UTC) reply
Wallyfromdilbert, The history is that the State of Delaware put out a request for proposals for a wind farm. Bluewater was the selected winner of that competition. But since then there have been other proposals for other wind farms off the coast of Delaware. So that's why I'm suggesting it does not make sense to have a page called "Delaware Offshore Wind Farm" when we already have the Bluewater page and the Skipjack page. I guess that changing a page name, or merging pages is not an easy thing to do on Wikipedia. I think it's worth doing, however, if you are up for it! How can I help? And, thanks for fixing that link! Jellyfish343, I'm not going to oppose you if you want to do the legwork, but how would you suggest the material from this page be merged into the Bluewater Wind page? Creating a new subsection in the "projects" section? – wallyfromdilbert ( talk) 01:29, 23 February 2020 (UTC) reply
