Greetings. I have found a source that list the Decker Brothers company as having been founded in 1862. This article lists it as 1865. - citation

Any thoughts on this? Tjbergsma ( talk) 00:20, 23 February 2008 (UTC) reply

I believe the article's creator got most of the information from that Atlas that is presently ref #2. I know nothing about this subject, I was just helping with the formatting and language. xenocidic ( talk) 00:27, 23 February 2008 (UTC) reply
yeah, I guess that question was directed towards him (or her). the New York times article from 1878 said the company had been in business for 14 years already -- that makes it 1864!?? Thanks for cleaning up my references. Cheers, Tjbergsma ( talk) 00:57, 23 February 2008 (UTC) reply
well this is pre-20th we're talking about.  ;> no problem. xenocidic ( talk) 01:07, 23 February 2008 (UTC) reply
I have heard that they were in existence for a few years before they manufactured any pianos. The first few years, I have come to understand, they were producing patents. I did get most of my information from Pierce's Piano Atlas. -- Eliwhale ( talk) 00:20, 24 February 2008 (UTC) reply
Also please keep in mind the Pianoforte is a relatively modern keyboard instrument, when compared to Harpsichord and organ. eg Bach never composed anything for a piano, because it had yet to be invented. Such that company founding, and began producing pianos, can very well be two different dates. As a Decker, I have come across some fascinating disputes involving Decker Bros and similarly sounding companies. Any of which may cause confusion for a scholar. I am no music scholar, just a gifted researcher to the depth of maybe a community college freshman level research paper. That said, sadly I have yet to get more than a name connection to the Decker Bros. My Paternal Grandmother was a Decker in Wisconsin with ties to the Lippe-Detmold region of Germany.~ К3вину ( RSVP) ( What) 18:37, 31 July 2015 (UTC) reply

Decker Building

I appropriately linked two articles to this article. One Decker Building and its architect. The building is significant in that it is the sole surviving example of Edelmans work, and still named for this company. It was also home to Andy Warhol's "factory" in the late 1960s. so I removed the orphan tag -- K3vin ( talk) 05:46, 30 September 2008 (UTC) ~ К3вину ( RSVP) ( What) 18:40, 31 July 2015 (UTC) reply
