  1. Is it reasonably well written?
    A. Prose is " clear and concise", without copyvios, or spelling and grammar errors:
No copyvios detected.-- 3family6 ( Talk to me | See what I have done) 16:22, 11 February 2015 (UTC) reply
"The city was a major destination of trade routes from all over Europe and Asia and the transfer of the Bulgarian market to Thessaloniki cut short the direct access to goods from the east which under the new circumstances the Bulgarians would have to buy through middlemen who were close associates of Stylianos Zaoutzes." - This needs some commas to break it up. I'd put them after "from the east" and "to buy through middlemen."-- 3family6 ( Talk to me | See what I have done) 16:22, 11 February 2015 (UTC) reply
"However, many historians including Vasil Zlatarski and John Fine consider those claims unlikely arguing that in the beginning of his reign Simeon needed to consolidate his power and imperial ambitions had not yet been crystallised, therefore his military intervention was a defensive act to protect the Bulgarian commercial interests." - needs comma after "consider those claims unlikely."-- 3family6 ( Talk to me | See what I have done) 16:22, 11 February 2015 (UTC) reply
Actually, there are numerous instances where sentences need commas. An editor needs to go through and copy-edit.-- 3family6 ( Talk to me | See what I have done) 16:22, 11 February 2015 (UTC) reply
I have checked the article again and added some commas. In Bulgarian there must be commas in the places you have indicated but when I have studied English the teachers advised us to avoid commas before "which", "when" and so on. Anyway, I agree that commas make texts more readable. If you have some other suggestions for more commas, I will gladly add them. Gligan ( talk) 16:51, 12 February 2015 (UTC) reply
It's a little better now, and the prose is decent enough for a GA. I'd suggest asking someone from the Guild of Copy Editors take a look at it.-- 3family6 ( Talk to me | See what I have done) 01:43, 13 February 2015 (UTC) reply
    B. MoS compliance for lead, layout, words to watch, fiction, and lists:
Follows MOS.-- 3family6 ( Talk to me | See what I have done) 16:22, 11 February 2015 (UTC) reply
  2. Is it factually accurate and verifiable?

Contains well-formatted reference sections.-- 3family6 ( Talk to me | See what I have done) 16:22, 11 February 2015 (UTC) reply
    B. Citations to reliable sources, where necessary:
Adequate citations to reliable sources.-- 3family6 ( Talk to me | See what I have done) 16:22, 11 February 2015 (UTC) reply
