Could somebody please put this information into a table? Example:

  • Hi, I just popped in to see how you were getting along. The article is much much better. Are there any good quotes that you can add perhaps one from Mr Blair and one from another, which would give a flavour of the debate, the issues and the implications? There must be some times or telegraph reports mentioning deaths, what conclusions were they drawing? You should also have a look at this page and nick a few references for your own 2001 war in Afghanistan, guardian , Observer, BBC - I hope these help! -- Mike 11:47, 26 October 2006 (UTC) reply
  • Hi, I'm still concerned this article might be attacked and potentially deleted. Can I suggest that you try and mention Afghan casualties, civilian casualties, and casualties from other countries. I would also suggest moving the article to a more neutral name to make it less prone to calls for deletion.   • Speedy keep I don't care whether the aricle breaks any guidelines but simply pasting a "delete" notice without giving giving any comments on the discussion page must break basic rules of courtesy to other users.
Having said that, without some changes the article clearly isn't appropriate to Wikipedia (perhaps there some other place - if not then why not create your own web page?) (To see how easy it is see: [ [1]]). To be worth of an encyclopedia entry, the article must do more than simply list the names and dates of death - it needs to provide information that someone e.g. writing an essay in a school/university would need to know. You could e.g. analyse the causes of death, mention the engagement, draw a graph of number of deaths by month, but the names couldn't be the central item of the article only a coincidental piece of information. It may sound cold, but I think of anyway to use your table. I hope this helps. -- Mike 22:16, 24 October 2006 (UTC) reply
Even so, simply needing some work isn't a good reason to delete the article. You can already gain some information from the table, such as the common causes of death.   • Hi Boris. From your comment you appear to be new (17:10, 12 September 2006) to the wild plains of Wikipedia! As a relative newcomer myself and having had my own experience of the deletion "anarchy", can I suggest you move the contents of the article to you own user pages and work on them there. If you don't know how to do this click on this link User:Boris Johnson VC/British forces casualties it should open up a page you can edit and thereby create the page. Then edit your home page User:Boris Johnson VC and put in a link to the page so that you can find it again. (You can get to your home page by a link at the top of every screen)
What to do with the page? My personal opinion (I don't know about policy) is that since no one has put any comments on this talk page in favour of deleting it, and you intent doing a radical change then remove all the contents of the the page to your user space and put an

I have corrected the age at death of Private Damien Raymond Jackson who was killed 5/7/06. Private Jackson was 19 years old when he died. He was killed a few days before his twentieth birthday.

The Table

Is that table up to date, could someone let me know me know plz, coz a friend of mine was under the impression that there hadn't been any casualties since JAN 13th, which unforunately hasn't been the case this week. Can someone let me know plz Ryan4314 21:29, 30 July 2007 (UTC) reply

I've just done just done a massive table update, to anyone else who is interested in keeping it updated all the info can be found at this reference [3]. Done a bit more wotk on the Table, I actually now regret removing the counties personnal were born in, and only leaving a link to the town, I was trying to be neat, but I forgot "wikipedia is about adding information". There's still more work to be done, in the long run, I'd like to put links the ranks as well as link names that may actually have their own article e.g Bryan Budd or Jabron Hashmi. Splitting this Article

This article is rapidly becoming to large. As the casualties continue it becomes more of a list and less of an article.

This article does seem to list information twice. At the top with specific incidents, and at the bottom with a table of deaths. The references, then take on its own article. Perhaps, the specific incidents should be split off to 2002 in Afghanistan for instance, and the references included in the table as per the Canadian article... It may be worth reviewing this debate on the MilHist page about these things in general.
Personally speaking I've never been keen on this kind of thing as I don't believe it adds any signficant value and is little more than a memorial anyway.

Sortable table.

Could we have one table, with sortable columns, so that other facts can sorted into clusters. See for example List of Victoria Crosses by school and List of events named massacres. If someone wishes to go to a specific year then there is a template that can be used called "section" which if embedded into the table would still allow a person go to the start of year see for example this link List of Latin phrases (C–E)#dulce bellum inexpertis -- PBS ( talk) 20:17, 12 May 2009 (UTC) reply

I have done the tables for 2009 & 2008 into a sortable format, however this causes some minor problems with the search, for example under the 'Unit' heading if the soldiers sub-unit precedes the unit then the sort order is by the sub-unit not the unit. So in the first table I have added sub-unit column. If anyone would like to check this out and comment then I wold appreciate that. A similar problem occurs with the date column, but short of using YYYY MM DD as the format then I can not see how that can be resolved. Trevor Marron ( talk) 11:21, 18 May 2009 (UTC) reply

I have corrected the age at death of Private Damien Raymond Jackson who was killed 5/7/06. Private Jackson was 19 years old when he died. He was killed a few days before his twentieth birthday.

The Table

I've just done just done a massive table update, to anyone else who is interested in keeping it updated all the info can be found at this reference [3]. There's still more work to be done, in the long run, I'd like to put links the ranks as well as link names that may actually have their own article e.g Bryan Budd or Jabron Hashmi. Splitting this Article

This article is rapidly becoming to large. As the casualties continue it becomes more of a list and less of an article.

This article does seem to list information twice. At the top with specific incidents, and at the bottom with a table of deaths. The references, then take on its own article. Perhaps, the specific incidents should be split off to 2002 in Afghanistan for instance, and the references included in the table as per the Canadian article... It may be worth reviewing this debate on the MilHist page about these things in general.
Personally speaking I've never been keen on this kind of thing as I don't believe it adds any signficant value and is little more than a memorial anyway.

Sortable table.

Could we have one table, with sortable columns, so that other facts can sorted into clusters. See for example List of Victoria Crosses by school and List of events named massacres. If someone wishes to go to a specific year then there is a template that can be used called "section" which if embedded into the table would still allow a person go to the start of year see for example this link List of Latin phrases (C–E)#dulce bellum inexpertis -- PBS ( talk) 20:17, 12 May 2009 (UTC) reply

I have done the tables for 2009 & 2008 into a sortable format, however this causes some minor problems with the search, for example under the 'Unit' heading if the soldiers sub-unit precedes the unit then the sort order is by the sub-unit not the unit. So in the first table I have added sub-unit column. If anyone would like to check this out and comment then I wold appreciate that.
