  • The television series and film titles need to be in italics
  • Based on the note 4 and the sources, the movie ranch is not near or on the ruins - it is near them. It has been reported as on them, but is not. This should be mentioned in the article, but there should not be this ambiguous phrasing when it is known where the ranch and ruins are.
  • Lead is a good length for the article
  • Cerrillos Hills should be wikilinked to Cerrillos Hills State Park
  • Is AD the usage recommended by WP:MOS? I thought Wikipedia was moving the CE now?
  • Turquoise could be wikilinked to the gem
  • Some commas needed to separate clauses in various places
  • Needs wikilink to smelter
  • The town went into decline following 1895 and was largely abandoned by 1890 - presumably the first year is 1885?
  • some point in the early 21st century - shouldn't this be 20th? We are currently still in the early(ish) 21st century.
  • "TV show" could be expanded to 'television show/series' for tone
  • Needs attention

Coverage

  • The lead has good coverage of most of the important points, but should probably mention mining, too
  • Uneven weight of background (heavy) vs. the actual town - is there more on the town or could the background be trimmed, and probably just put under one section without the subheadings
  • Needs work

Illustration

  • Good selection of good images
  • Doesn't need an infobox

  • Thanks a lot for reviewing the article; I've made the requested changes. Most don't need elaboration, but there were a handful of points I wanted to comment on:
    • WP:MOS allows for both AD and CE (couldn't get a wikilink to work, but it's the only section with the letter string BCE). I tend to just use whichever dating system is more commonly used by contemporaneous sources; all sources cited here use AD.
    • I added in additional commas where I felt appropriate. Please let me know if you think additional commas are needed.
    • I condensed the background section and removed a bit of extraneous information. I conducted another extensive search for sources over the last few hours, and there really isn't anything more that can be said (at least without violating WP:SUMMARY). This was a very small 19th century boomtown whose golden era lasted for only three years, so I'm not too surprised by the sparse sourcing . Spirit of Eagle ( talk) 06:22, 18 January 2020 (UTC) reply
      • I found a bit more generic info on the founding and the etymology on page 45 of this book, with some mention on ix, these could be added? (There's also a false mention on page 132, where another NM town (Fleming) was almost given the same name) Then, there's some on the movie ranch at pages 113-114 of this book (and a lost film shot there mentioned on 105). In this there's something about the city getting charged by NM for violating child labor laws regarding Kid Nation, this is covered by newspapers as far away as Australia so should probably get a mention ( NYT here). The town seems to have become a popular place for whiskey 1 2. Here is a Smithsonian short documentary on it. There's possibly some more info to dig from Sherman & Sherman, too. Sorry for dumping all these links on you, I was getting interested myself and did a deep search! (You don't have to go adding everything from these, but maybe look through?) • Thanks a lot for the links! I’ll look through them with more depth later in the evening when I have access to a computer. However, the first book source alone has some good information that is detonators going into the article. Spirit of Eagle ( talk) 17:43, 18 January 2020 (UTC) reply
          • Ok, I've gone back and added in a bunch of new information. There is a bit more stuff under the original town section, and I also added some language to the movie ranch section, particularly a few more sentences on Kid Nation . Spirit of Eagle ( talk) 03:43, 19 January 2020 (UTC) reply
            • Looks great! Nice expansion, with fair spread and weight of info. Kingsif ( talk) 04:08, 19 January 2020 (UTC) reply
