Hi,

I am new to contact lenses and my optician has prescribed daily lenses for me with a BC of 8.7. I notice that there are lots of lenses available with BC=8.6 at reasonable prices on the web. Hello, from what I've heard from other contact wearers, a difference of .1 BC shouldn't be a big deal, as long as you're wearing soft lens. They'll probably be less comfortable to wear, though. The general rule that I was given by my doctor was that I could wear anything within .3 BC of my prescription (8.9), provided I didn't wear them for prolonged periods of time (it can cause issues with how much oxygen your eyes receive, among other things) and that I used eye drops to replenish the moisture because it makes tear production more difficult. If you're really worried about it, though, I would ask your doctor... I have odd eye dimensions, so I can't vouch for what people with more "normal" eyes are supposed to wear. I'm merely telling you what I've heard from others, I am not a doctor or an eye specialist.

If you wear hard contact lens, talk to your doctor about it- I don't think you want to mess with the BC on those, they don't drape and "give" the way soft lens do. Abstractcandy ( talk) 01:31, 5 December 2007 (UTC) reply
