Inappropriate source or references

The references, "Medal of Honor expected to be approved for Maui man" (used 3 times), and "Medal of Honor likely for Isle man" (used 4 times, supposedly supported by links to The Honolulu Advertiser, are to the current date page. The American Battle Monuments Commission links are to the main search page. None of these links are proper and certainly do not provide any relevant information.

Out of 11 uses of references to 5 different sites 8 are inappropriate. Before deleting any I will wait to see if someone cares to correct this.

There is also information that the individual has not actually become the recipient of the Medal of Honor at this time. I am researching this but information claiming it is expected he be approved or likely to be approved, even with reliable references, is not grounds to definitively state he is a recipient. There is a story on the Army home page now. We could probably replace most of the references with this: http://www.army.mil/-news/2011/04/29/55695-2-korean-war-heroes-to-be-posthumously-awarded-medal-of-honor-today/ Vettrock ( talk) 14:07, 5 May 2011 (UTC) reply

OK, I'm not sure how to do the references, so if someone else can fix it, it might be better. Vettrock ( talk) 14:10, 5 May 2011 (UTC) reply

For the American Battle Monuments Commission reference, if you follow the link and then put in :Kahoohanohano, Anthony on the search box, it comes up with the relevant information, although it does not show it in the URL. If someone knows how to link it directly, it may be possible to fix that reference. Vettrock ( talk) 14:16, 5 May 2011 (UTC) Some more references to include: http://www.army.mil/standto/archive/2011/05/02/ http://www.army.mil/-news/2011/04/14/54871-president-to-award-posthumous-medals-of-honor-for-korea/ http://www.army.mil/-news/2011/04/22/55395-medal-of-honor---pfc-anthony-t-kahoohanohano/index.html —Preceding unsigned comment added by Vettrock ( talkcontribs) 14:33, 5 May 2011 (UTC) reply

OK, I just added them as external links, someone who knows more can change the citations. Vettrock ( talk) 14:41, 5 May 2011 (UTC) reply

Thanks I will take a look at some of those. His family just recieved the Medal from the President a couple days ago (Monday I think) so we should start to see new references soon. -- Kumioko ( talk) 15:19, 5 May 2011 (UTC) reply
I am glad to hear that. The act (actual award) makes the references and the article correct. Otr500 ( talk) 01:52, 6 May 2011 (UTC) reply
I guess that doesn't fix the "Did you Know" template that is now a couple of years off. If not correctable maybe it can be hid. Otr500 ( talk) 02:02, 6 May 2011 (UTC) reply
The award was final once congress passed the Bill and Obama signed it in 2009, so I think you can still call that technically accurate. The day that it is presently the family is important, but I would consider the day that it was approved as the award date rather than the presentation. Vettrock ( talk) 09:50, 6 May 2011 (UTC) reply
