Addiopizzo has been added to the "Tax resistance" set of pages, and I've tried to add the sidebar for that set to this page without success. The last reversion said something to the extent that extortion is not a tax, but indeed this is the very thing at issue in many examples of tax resistance, and extortion and taxation if they are not indeed names for the same thing are certainly shades on the same continuum, and resistance to taxation often takes place when it is interpreted by those being taxed as extortion. The pizzo, being something regularly exacted at consistent rates over a long period of time by an enduring institution, indeed bears more of a resemblance to a tax than to most varieties of extortion which are more sporadic, irregular, haphazard, and inconsistent. - — ( talk) 02:15, 15 February 2010 (UTC)
