It would be helpful to put on this page what the normal ranges of the Absolute Neutrophil Count should be (approx 1500-8000 cells/mcl or cells/mm^3 of blood...taken from MedicineNet.com url: http://www.medterms.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=20030) ToniAliAni

what are Bands that are used to calculate?

Bands are immature neutrophils. Not all labs report mature and immature neuts separately. WhatamIdoing 06:17, 13 November 2007 (UTC) reply

Merge article

I think the content in this article fits well with, and should be merge with neutrophil granulocyte-- Bwthemoose/ Talk 16:33, 10 December 2007 (UTC) reply

I disagree. One is about measuring the ratio of different contents, the other is about one of the contents. It would be like merging snow and winter. Totnesmartin ( talk) 10:31, 11 April 2010 (UTC) reply

How are the cells counted?

Could anybody please add some part to the article explaining how this counting is carried out in practice? I find it hard to believe that someone is looking through a microscope counting the cells one by one, but what is the alternative? Octonion ( talk) 08:27, 17 June 2013 (UTC) reply

It's usually done by machine, but it can be done manually, exactly as you describe. See Complete blood count#Methods. WhatamIdoing ( talk) 13:44, 20 June 2013 (UTC) reply
