Arthur Lee himself stated that he showed Snoopy how to play the drums for 7 and 7 Is, and that Snoopy eventually played the part, not himself. This was on the Ice World VHS, a 1989 interview/concert video. It used to be on YouTube, but I can't find it anymore. So both Lee and Echols say the same thing here. Arthur Lee did play drums on a good portion of the first album.
I saw that video as well. I don't know how to cite it, but with both Lee and Echols stating that Snoopy played on the record, that seems to be strong enough evidence for me. I'll make the change. We'll keep Echols' statement from the Forever Changes book, does anyone know how to cite an old, no-longer manufactured VHS tape? If so, please add a citation.
