I checked the table and it was working fine, sorting the content properly, numerically. It appears as if, in the course of the last five years, an anonymous hero has corrected this error for the page. CarlsonC ( talk) 16:44, 5 October 2017 (UTC) reply

Discrepancies

Before my one edit today, which changed only the Massachusetts figure in the "Total" column, there were the following discrepancies in the article's table of states and territories:

  1. Delaware: 59,094 is 2 less than the sum of the appropriate columns; this is explained in a footnote to the table.
  2. Massachusetts: 387,787 is 9,000 more than the sum of the appropriate columns; what is the explanation?
  3. New Hampshire: 141,801 is 84 less than the sum of the appropriate columns; what is the explanation?
  4. Vermont: 85,529 is 10 less than the sum of the appropriate columns; what is the explanation?
  5. National total: 3,964,905 is 32,176 more than the sum of the appropriate columns; what is the explanation?

Norwalk 1790 census includes both stamford and greenwich, hence its inflated population.

If you check the source provided it shows data for 1790 with a large spike as those other towns are lumped in, before returning to its actual population of around 5000 seen in 1782 and in 1800. I suggest a note here since this distorts the importance of Norwalk in Connecticut at the time 87.210.242.77 ( talk) 11:36, 30 October 2023 (UTC) reply

Google Books vs. Archive.org

When an item is available from both locations, which should we link to? I accidentally duplicated the Virginia one at Archive.org. I like to saw logs! ( talk) 23:01, 18 April 2024 (UTC) reply
