A
fact from this article appeared on Wikipedia's
Main Page in the "
Did you know?" column on
September 29, 2012. The text of the entry was: Did you know ... that
Yad Kennedy (pictured), an Israeli memorial to
John F. Kennedy designed by architect
David Resnick, is shaped like the trunk of a felled tree, symbolizing a life cut short? |
The article states "The memorial, 60 feet high, [...] is encircled by 51 columns, each bearing the emblem of a state." If these are United states, what is the 51st? Aren't there only 50 states in the U.S.A.? And if these are nation-states, like Syria and Canada, should that be made clear? Beobach972 ( talk) 23:46, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
I have the following image of the Yad Kennedy structure:
Would anyone object if I replaced the top image on the article with this one? This new one is higher resolution and public domain. It also shows the "eternal flame" (a light bulb) through the entrance.

I think it would be good to add a few more photos (perhaps as part of a gallery) to show images such as the JFK bust and the memorial wall. If anyone has photos to add, please do. Otherwise, if anyone reading this note lives in Jerusalem, please consider taking some photos and uploading them. (Otherwise, I hope to be in Israel this December, and I'll try to do that.) Thanks! If anyone has a photo from this visit, I would like to add it to this article. NearTheZoo ( talk) 15:06, 23 September 2012 (UTC)
