Jmabel, sorry about the british spelling. Had a spell-checker round on it.
What do you mean with supposedly to work his passage to
Hong Kong?
Wouldn't it sound betters as with the intention of working his passage to
Hong Kong?
You decide it. -

What does this quote mean?
More to the point, what is it doing in this article? What point is it illustrating? It might serve a purpose, but if so, it could use some more explanation, because I have no idea what it's trying to say. -- Delirium 20:59, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
The "Lux" is not just a unit of intensity, it is Latin for "light". And Xul Solar was a self-taught scholar of Latin-based languages, so he was aware of that, while he was probably unaware of the "unit" meaning.
So, the explanation of the adopted name seems overly elaborate. Light Sun, or Sun-light, or Sunlight, would be as accurate. elpincha ( talk) 19:31, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
"His father's name Schulz is pronounced Xul in Spanish": This statement is meaningless as is (how is "Xul" pronounced in Spanish?) and should be either deleted or expanded with a phonetic transcription. Languagehat ( talk) 21:35, 27 February 2017 (UTC)
