There do not appear to be any speakers of this language left. Fewer than a handful of individuals who self-identify for socio-historical reasons as Griqua have in recent years - between 2007 and 2011 - offered linguists some fragments of a remembered Khoekhoe variety. This material, however, does not conform to the descriptions of the Griqua variety provided by Beach and Meinhof, and really appears to be Korana rather 'Xiri'
