Edits are needed to this article to clarify that World Diabetes Day is not an "official" global health day recognized by the World Health Organization. Some other pages of the 8 official WHO campaigns (
http://www.who.int/campaigns/en/) also erroneously insinuate as such. I have tried to correct them where I find them.

Edits are also needed as to some of the statements presented here, such as "People with diabetes get to take a day off work or school on this day" - with no evidence supporting this day as a statutory holiday in any country.
