I Started wikifying this article today, but should have read it all first. The subhead 'The Parish of Wookey in a Nutshell' has all been taken, presumably verbatim, from "The Parish Of Wookey - A New History" by Hasler & Luker. Published by the Wookey Local History Group. There is some good information, and some less so, but I guess it needs reworking to avoid copyright problems, and adding references.
Also, in the lead, it says "Wookey was a coal-mining village on the Somerset coalfield and birthplace of the trade unonist A.J. Cook." A coal mining village? Can anyone confirm this before I delete it? It may come from A. J. Cook (trade unionist) which is unreferenced. I guess one shouldn't believe everything they read on WP:) Derek Andrews 10:45, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
As I know nothing of all this Wiki stuff and have just found this nonsense, I comment as follows: I am co-author of The Parish of Wookey - a New History ISBN 0 9530166 0 9. The "Nutshell" article was written by us at the request of the then parish clerk, developing a web site for the parish council. Its authorship should have been acknowledged. There was no mention of coal mining in Wookey in the original. A J Cook was born in Wookey parish. And why all this is under "Geography" is beyond me. Brian Luker
Please note all you wikifyers the article The Parish of Wookey in a Nutshell that you have removed was not subject to copyright as it was put on with the permission of the authors of the The Parish of Wookey - A New History, did you ask them before you removed it! The following article was written by and published with the consent of Brian Luker and Joan Hasler the authors of "The Parish Of Wookey - A New History" and is NOT a copyright violation. As is it relating to the History of the Parish of Wookey it would not be appropriate to move it to Wookey Hole as suggested. If you have any queries then please contact me. I have reinstated this article. Sujackman (Wookey).
