There's a fair bit of debate about the spelling of character names, so there might as well be a discussion opened up.
There is a piece of merchandise in which Riko's name is written as "Liko", but ideally the most reliable source for English names of characters would be the Data Carddass cards, so if we find any images of those we'll know for sure. Side characters on the other hand are unlikely to get any official English spellings, what with this not being an officially subtitle series, so in that case it's best to use some common sense. For example: names like Liz, Emily, and Isaac are clearly English names, and should be written as such, whereas names that seem like they could go either way, such as Kei/Kay, should be written in Japanese just to be safe. Although no official English dub for Witchy Precure is announced, Toei USA has made official English logos for every Precure series up to Hugtto. The logo for this series clearly prints "Witchy Pretty Cure". "Maho Girls" is a FANMADE title. It's not official by any means. I don't think a discussion is even necessary in this case, since we clearly have an official source cited already, so this is more of a note. Wikipedia favors official titles rather than fanmade ones, that's for sure. Sk8erPrince ( talk) 19:57, 5 March 2019 (UTC)
Maho Girls is NOT a fan name. It's literally in, and the subtitle of the Japanese logo. Can't be more clear than that.

Maho isn't known by "Witchy" anywhere except on this obscure page from Toei. Toei isn't exactly known for having accurate translations of anime titles and character names on their site, though i admire their effort in the logos. (You could've at least announced or open a discussion about the page move on the talk page of the main article, Pretty Cure, before abruptly moving everything over. Can safely say likely nobody except you was aware of this Toei page.) Rctgamer3 ( talk) 20:18, 5 March 2019 (UTC)
@ Sk8erPrince: Did you forget to add the exclamation at the end of the title? Toei USA lists it as "Witchy PreCure!" and the exclamation mark was also (already) present in both the English logo, Japanese logo and its subtitle "Maho Girls PreCure!" Rctgamer3 ( talk) 12:30, 7 March 2019 (UTC)
There is no reason for any name change here. It is based on nothing official. A single image, with no trademark or copyright application for said name, that is not meant for public consumption, does not overturn official sources. Given his repeated baseless edits of this and other pages, I can only view Sk8erPrince as a vandal. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 43.245.163.180 ( talk) 01:04, 13 March 2019 (UTC)
To clarify, this was the PITCH name used for pitching the series to English licensors at conventions, much like it has done with previous series that never got licensed. Even if this series does get an official English release in the future, it will most likely be under the Glitter Force brand. I know I'm a bit late to this, but the English title for now should be Maho Girls PreCure!. Wonchop ( talk) 15:29, 16 July 2019 (UTC)

Yeah I know this is kind of pointless considering Sk8erPrince's stupid WE GOTTA USE DA NAME USED ON TOEI'S OBSCURE ENGLISH WEBBSITE GRRRR thing, but surely Wikipedia should use the more common English title for the series over what Toei uses for potential marketing purposes?
I know Google results can't be used as verifiable source, but let's just look at the facts here: Witchy Precure has about 13,200 results, Maho Girls Precure has about 235,000 results, and Mahoutsukai Precure has about 373,000 results. Now I can understand Wikipedia not wanting to use Mahoutsukai Precure as the article title but SURELY the article title should be at what is used most commonly in English sources, rather than 'What Toei uses on their obscure website?' (And besides, going by Sk8erPrince's logic, we should be moving the article for Hugtto! Precure to Hug! Precure because 'that's what Toei's English logo says'?)
And regarding character name's (or rather, one character's name in particular), while I won't deny that the community of Precure watchers almost universally calls her Riko, the argument that 'Liko' is incorrect is just plain wrong considering that a) Liko is the spelling used in the show proper (episode 40) and every piece of official artwork and merchandise that has her name written in the Latin alphabet spells it as Liko and not Riko. So clearly Liko is how her name is supposed to be spelled.
That being said I don't expect anything to change about this article considering Sk8erPrince's utter refusal to listen to any arguments against their WE GOTTA USE DA OFFICIAL NAYMS thing (ironic that they use that argument when it comes to the show title but refuses to do that for Liko's name) SailorViola ( talk) 22:43, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
I’m aware that Toei’s English website changed the name of Maho Girls PreCure. However it should either be changed back, or you should edit every article to say Witchy Precure. You can’t just mark one page with the title and expect people to go with it. OmoriP ( talk) 21:20, 7 April 2019 (UTC)
All of the voice actors pages, Precure a la mode, go Princess Precure, and likely the main Precure article. I apologize for the slow response. OmoriP ( talk) 02:21, 8 April 2019 (UTC)
2603:6080:D103::/48 - You keep changing the character's name to some random unsourced variant. Please stop this, or explain your reasoning. Same with the article for Tropical, Maho/Witchy and others. You're violating 3RR. I keep reverting these changes you've made on the various Precure pages since it's obvious, but enough is enough. Rctgamer3 ( talk) 22:26, 31 March 2021 (UTC)
