There is some confusion over the correct death date for William Lambton: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Lambton (Lieutenant-Colonel William Lambton, FRS)
Rather sad, considering the last part of his life was spent surveying India with painstaking accuracy. Even more sad that tomb lies crumbling and unmaintained tomb in a Moslem graveyard in Hinganghat, India - as testified by John Keay in his wonderful book "The Great Trigonometrical Survey of India".
In short his death date is likely to be the 19th, 26th or 30th January 1823 : EITHER "19 January 1823" (at head of existing wiki page) OR "He died at Hinganghat, on 26 January 1823" (in text at base of existing Wiki page) OR (my suggestion) "30 January 1823" (see photo of memorial at url: http://media-cdn.tripadvisor.com/media/photo-s/03/ab/78/e7/st-thomas-mount-national.jpg and at url: http://chennaitourist.blogspot.fr/2009/08/st-thomas-mount.html
