The town's article says it's named for William Hamilton Merritt, but reading through it and comparing to Thomas Rodman Merritt I wonder if it's maybe the latter that is the town's namesake. I have lived in St Catharines all my life and never once have I heard anyone refer to the Merrittsville Highway. A quick Google search only shows "Merrittville Highway"--> No "s". As to the original town, maybe it was Merrittsville, but the highway is not. I could change it, but I'll let the people who are contributing to this article do so. Otherwise, it is a nice article, although far too brief: For one thing: Merritt's house is still standing and for many years it has been the home of CKTB radio--information like that could be added. Also personal info, wife and children, etc.
