"who ascended to the CIA after his successful coups against the New York mafia families while director of the FBI under President Jimmy Carter."
I don't know enough about Webster's history to feel comfortable making this edit -- but "successful coups"? I'm not really sure what this means in the context of Webster's history. Successful prosecutions? I'd suggest some plain language that actually explains what Webster accomplished or achieved.
A temporary subpage at User:Polbot/fjc/William Hedgcock Webster was automatically created by a perl script, based on this article at the Biographical Directory of Federal Judges. The subpage should either be merged into this article, or moved and disambiguated. Polbot ( talk) 00:05, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
It always bothers me that Webster's controversial nomination and stint at the SEC doesn't show up, or is purged(?) from this bio. Especially since the controversy stems from Webster being involved in auditing a company delisted for fraud - U.S. Technologies. Shorty61 ( talk) 20:23, 4 December 2010 (UTC)shorty61
The picture shown seems to be his 1978 official picture as Director FBI -- the photo should be of his last official position. Best I can see is his CIA photo from 1987 here. Does anyone know where to find Chair of the Homeland Security Advisory Council phto ? Markbassett ( talk) 00:54, 19 May 2017 (UTC)
