Edelman on behalf of William E. Connor
Part of an edit requested by an editor with a
conflict of interest has been implemented. Please see the Review of edit request section below for more information about your request.
At full disclosure, this request of change is from Edelman Hong Kong as the appointed communications agency of William E. Connor & Associates Ltd.. On behalf of our client, we would like to request several changes to be made on Mr. Connor’s personal page as there is currently incorrect information listed on the page.
"American-born" change to "an American born in Japan" [2]
"His father, William E. Connor, started the eponymous William E. Connor & Associates in Japan in 1949 after the Second World War" change to "His father, William E. Connor, was a civilian trade specialist in the postwar Macarthur administration of Japan specializing in the pulp and paper industry. Upon leaving the US army in 1949 his father decided to remain in Japan and established his company known as William E. Connor, Inc. The company's earliest business was as a pulp and paper representative in Japan for foreign pulp and paper producers; a business that continued until 2010. Several years after the company began operating it was approached by several American department stores which engaged the company as buying agent for consumer merchandise from Japan; the beginning of the sourcing industry as it's known today." [3][4]
"an associate degree from Stanford University, and a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the University of Santa Clara" change to "an undergraduate degree from Stanford University, an MBA from USC and a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the University of Santa Clara" [5]
"the chairman of Omega Compliance and the William E. Connor Foundation" change to "the Chairman & CEO of William E. Connor & Associates Ltd.. The company has over 30 offices in 20 countries" [6]
Below you will see where proposals from your request have been quoted with reviewer decisions and feedback inserted underneath, either accepting, declining or otherwise commenting upon your proposal(s). Please read the enclosed notes for information on each request. spintendo 17:58, 26 July 2018 (UTC)reply

^This claim comes from sources which are less than explicit about the birth location of the subject. For this claim to be explicitly made in the article requires that sources be used where the information is explicitly stated.
^This part of the edit request proposal cannot be implemented, as the article in question concerns the subject himself — rather than the subject's father — for whom this particular information largely concerns.
^This part of the edit request proposal concerns claims made on behalf of USC. Sourcing would ideally be made from that organization, as they are the best positioned to verify whether the subject obtained an MBA from their institution. Undergraduate degrees are typically omitted from Wikipedia articles, although the claim of being a Stanford alumnus was added to the infobox.
^This part of the edit request proposal containing the claim of chairman and CEO was added to the article. The claim regarding the size of the business was omitted.
^The listing in the infobox of the year of birth in a bifurcated format (1949/1950) is due to the limitations of the
Birthdate based on age (as of date) template's software, and cannot be altered unless a more precise citation is used for the date of birth. As previously stated in Note #1, the year of birth was changed to 1949 in the prose of the article.
^Claims regarding alumni are usually approved. (SeeWP:ALUMNI.)
^The parameter was changed to read as Chairman, CEO.

At full disclosure, this request of change is from Edelman Hong Kong as the appointed communications agency of William E. Connor & Associates Ltd.. On behalf of our client, we would like to follow up on the response to the requested changes to be made on Mr. Connor’s personal page.
To change "American-born" to "American born and raised in Japan". The provided citation explicitly states that Mr. Connor is "born and raised in Japan", proving the original text of "American-born" is definitely incorrect. [1]
Tatler's owners: "EDIPRESSE does not have control over and does not guarantee the truthfulness, accuracy or reliability of any materials posted by other users or endorse any opinions expressed by users on the Site."
The information about the Connors: "Husband of Jacque and father to three sons, he collects and races vintage cars...Jacque is a dedicated mother to three boys, extensively involved in organisations supporting children’s learning ... she shares a love for vintage cars with her husband."
Not being familiar with Tatler and just looking at this text, one could reasonably be forgiven for a belief that the information in Tatler — with its hackneyed prose serving as pastiche of these types of "perfect" profiles — might of been personally submitted by the Connors themselves, and thus, open to the warnings as mentioned by Edipresse above. That should explain my initial caution.
In lieu of anything to the contrary, I've updated the article as requested to indicate the subject's birthplace of Japan. Regards, spintendo 14:08, 31 July 2018 (UTC)reply
