I added two new reference books to this article: Tom Clavin's "Wild Bill: The true story of the American frontier's first gunfighter" and Linda Fisher and Carrie Bower's biography of Hickok's widow, Agnes Lake: "Agnes Lake Hickok: Queen of the Circus, Wife of a Legend". Corrected date and title of Hickok's creation of his Niagara Falls show, "The Daring Buffalo Chase of the Plains". The show was created in 1872, after his tenure as town marshal of Abilene, Kansas, and after meeting his future wife, circus proprietor Agnes Lake.
