Why is there no information regarding Hispanic white women marrying non-Hispanic? — Preceding unsigned comment added by MVillani1985 ( talk • contribs) 22:45, 22 January 2016 (UTC)
An important part of the population in Latinamerica have ancestors who were NOT Hispanic but Italian, Quechua, German, Maya, French, Guarani, Bantu, Croatian, Lebanese etc, etc...but their descendants have been assimilated by the Spanish ethnicity becoming "Hispanic". And the same happen to millions of people from all the World who are being assimilated by the English ethnicity becoming "Anglos" in the U.S, Canada or Australia. Cameron Diaz is NOT Hispanic but Anglo, same way as the former President of Argentina, Nestor Kirschner IS "Hispanic" even if he had German ancestors, or the President of El Salvador, Bukele, IS "Hspanic" even if he has Lebanese ancestors etc, etc. There are hundreds of millions of Latinamericans whose ancestors were not Spanish but they have been assimilated into the SPANISH culture and ethnicity, and the same happens in the U.S. or Australia with hundreds of millions of Americans whose ancestors are not English but they have been assimilated by teh ENGLISH culture and etnicity. Same in Brazil. Just compare Brazil to tiny Portugal. dozens of millions of people from all the World have been assimilated by teh PORTUGUESE culture in Brazil. Same in Russia. Same here in Spain or in England with a long process of assimilation of millions of immigrants.-- 88.12.248.187 ( talk) 01:42, 2 January 2022 (UTC)
I don't understand why most Americans think Portuguese people are Hispanic; they clearly speak a different language and have a different culture. Blacklister3000 ( talk) 19:23, 28 February 2020 (UTC)
No, they speak Portuguese, the same with Brazil, they are luso L1948L ( talk) 01:01, 3 July 2021 (UTC)
RITA HAYWORTH, RAQUEL WELCH CAMERON DIAZ MARTIN SHEEN MIGUEL FERRER You forget American actors and actress of Spanish ancestry like Rita Hayworth (Margarita Cansino), Raquel Welch (Raquel Tejada), Cameron Díaz, Martin Sheen (Estevez, Miguel Ferrer...they are White, but I think they should be considered Anglos, assimilated -- 213.60.225.183 ( talk) 19:35, 2 December 2020 (UTC)
I reverted this edit to the demographic info in the infobox because the numbers seemed dubious based on what I was able to find at the given source. I may be incorrect (I don't use the census website enough to be sure I'm filtering correctly) so mentioning it here so that editors familiar with the content can review and take whatever action is necessary to update the article for 2020. Let me be Blunt, I being from Spanish descent do not just identify myself as just being white, My family from the pass immigrated from Spain to Puerto Rico and then to New York Which would make me an American Puerto Rican, I identify myself as white because that is what my skin color is it is not black nor brown or any other color, Try to remember that being white is not just a race If you're from Irish descent or British descent or Norwegian, Russian, German etc, than you also will have that color as well, it's not special. You gave me the impression that some latinos have a problem with their identities and I strongly disagree with that I know who I am, Now if I'm wrong about this then the author of this page needs to explain what he meant when he wrote White latino who self-identifies as white really means. -- George Ortiz Skynet Ny1 ( talk) 07:09, 25 August 2021 (UTC)
As of 2020, 62 million or 18.7% of residents of the United States of America identified as Hispanic or Latino of which 12.5 million or 20.3% self-identified as white alone down from the 2019 American Community Survey when 38.3 million, or 65.5% of Latinos self-identified as white.
Clearly, there is a methodology problem here. Populations do not drop from 38M to 12M in one year just like that. 2600:1702:6D0:5160:853B:1F61:D810:B710 ( talk) 15:00, 17 July 2022 (UTC)
