Content forks and history merges

I did a bit more cleanup on the War Eagle Bridge article than I initially expected. Here's what happened...

First, a new War Eagle Mill article was created from existing content split out from this article. This article was being used for both purposes, and while the two subjects are related and both notable, they are still separate subjects and thus should have separate articles. Now they do. That said...

The War Eagle Bridge article has an interesting history, in that it was originally about the mill only. Then content about the bridge was added. Then the article was moved by cut-and-paste to the War Eagle Bridge title (a no-no). Thus the history trail was split, and the present content on the War Eagle Mill title was a legitimate content fork from the bridge article. To have the history for what is now the bridge article on the mill title, even if it did indeed start out as being about the mill, is incorrect because the attribution trail was broken. Now the attribution trail is back together as it should be.

I hope everyone likes the separated articles, and perhaps now they might be able to be featured articles when they grow up! SchuminWeb ( Talk) 02:08, 1 April 2011 (UTC) reply
