I can't really add anything as I don't have any definitive references, but there was (or still is?) definitely a Wally Heider Studios in Los Angeles before the San Francisco studio opened. The Beach Boys did some recordings there in September 1967, specifically re-recording much of their live "Lei'd In Hawaii" album. -Dauber Special:Contributions/99.46.65.242
