This article should be improved; in particular, the presentation as a tree of 4/2 adders is much easier to follow.

The algorithm that's described is inconsistent with the 8x8 reduction procedure illustrated. "Take any three wires with the same weights and input them into a full adder" and "If there are two wires of the same weight left, input them into a half adder" are ignored on several layers.
