Just because the population is 130 does not mean it is not a ghost town. It was a major mining camp in the early days and the population collapsed after the mines ran out. It is a major tourist attraction because it was a teritorial capital that became a ghost town. Many other ghost towns also have similar populations. -- RTC 06:55, 5 Nov 2004 (UTC)

It's not a ghost town...it's still the county seat for Madison County, has a functional court house, library, businesses, and year round permanent population. The fact that it still has a functional infrastructure disqualifies it from ghost town status. 69.144.68.215 ( talk) 02:56, 22 October 2008 (UTC)
Jack Slade was lynched in Virginia City by the local vigilante committee in 1864. Did he not live in the town? Even for a short period of time? Methychroma ( talk) 00:23, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
