Viola concerto or gamba concerto?

The concerto is occasionally recorded on viola da gamba, if memory serves. Was it originally written for gamba or for a closer relative of the modern viola? This information might helpfully be in the article, it's relevant to articles on later composers like Alessandro Rolla with his viola concerto (and how it fits into the viola concerto chronology). Will try to find out if I can myself, of course. Schissel | Sound the Note! 13:32, 6 December 2009 (UTC) reply

Manuscript sources

This is not a very helpful article. OK, so the 2nd Mvt is in 4/4 time. wow. There are several different realizations of the figured bass for continuo part of this concerto (some more rich than others), I have always wondered about the original manuscript, and the availability of an urtext edition. szintenzenesz14:16, 24 October 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 211.192.103.242 ( talk) reply
