Query "…one of the major figures in music of the 20th century…" I do not deny Persichetti's influence in America (about which I know little, and which I can well believe to be considerable). However, I'm fairly sure his music is not big in Europe (I've never encountered any in performance — my loss, perhaps, and the article has piqued my curiosity). I would like to see it made more explicit that his influence is mainly in America, or alternatively would like to see the claims for his global significance made more convincingly and be shown in more detail what that influence was. -- RobertG ♬ talk 11:54, 1 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Added external link to liner notes, and for full disclosure I work for the non-profit educational resource linked to. The notes provide reference for several facts in this article. Ribbonabaca ( talk) 19:00, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
There was a long list of people he taught. I cut it down to only the famous people he taught. If one were to include just the people he taught who have Wikipedia pages the list would probably be even more gigantic than it was when I found it. I fixed a few bits of grammar here and there and altered some weird sentences or eliminated them. What I have done, though, is just wound dressing. The article could use a serious re-write. Also, it could REALLY use some research. There are all sorts of statements made here that are not supported. Most of the article is based on nothing I can discern. It may all be true but how can I know? Was his opera a flop? Who says? I added a bit that it was critics who deemed it so (that makes sense!) but that was really disingenuous of me. I was just guessing in the face of a gaping void. Gingermint ( talk) 00:00, 21 August 2010 (UTC)
