I assume it was named after Queen Victoria, but it says it was built in the 1970s? Did the president build this to commemerate the Queen?--

I tried looking for clues of why it was named Victoria Dam. Yet I haven't come across a single area where it linked Queen Victoria. Probably it was named after someone else... Regards.
