This article was written by a Computer Science Senior at the University of Virginia. Its main goal is to convey the possibility of building a vehicular communication systems, while defining some of the main criteria that should be used in the a design. The article could be expanded by reviewing some research that has been done in inter-automobile communication, as well as examining possibilities of using other technologies in vehicular communication systems. For clarity purposes, I made some modifications to the document - your feedback is welcome, and hope all is well taken. Good Job! :) --Lperez2029 14:50, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

Contributions are needed to the article - not just the addition of links. Thank you --Lperez2029 13:33, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

Merge

Bluetooth communications for vehicles fall under the telematics umbrella for potential vehicular communications systems. I suggest a merger with telematics (retaining the main article while allowing expansion). I propose creating a section and merging with Telematics under "Bluetooth vehicular communication systems" - (renaming main article accordingly). does anyone have any comments or suggestions? --Lperez2029 23:01, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

I disagree. Telematics is a much broader term than Vehicular Communication Systems. Telematics should describe its subject at an appropriate level of generality, and link to pages that discuss more specific examples of telematic systems. Bryan 20:20, 24 January 2007 (UTC) reply

Thanks Bryan - I agree that Telematics is indeed a much broader term than Vehicular Communication Systems alone. However, wouldn't you agree that it's a piece of the automotive telematics pie? --Lperez2029 20:28, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

Needs coverage of Security and Privacy

Security is a big issue for these sorts of systems. To what extent can they be used to compromise a vehicles internal computers, to what extent can they be used to shape behavior in unintended ways (e.g. false broadcasts, denial of service attacks, etc.) Really deserves some serious coverage here.

Likewise privacy needs more coverage. What are the issues. How do these systems work with right to not bear witness against ones-self. Correlation of vehicle movement information with personal identity, with information about movement of personal technology, etc. 64.40.54.83 ( talk) 17:31, 21 October 2014 (UTC) reply

Shouldn't Cooperative Adaptive Cruise Control (C-ACC) be mentioned ? https://www.tue.nl/en/research/strategic-area-smart-mobility/research-projects/cooperative-driving/ KVDP ( talk) 07:44, 14 September 2015 (UTC) reply
