Valdemar III of Denmark?

Why does so many other sites call Valdemar the Younger, the son of Valdemar II of Denmark, "Valdemar III" instead? Also Valdemar IV Atterdag is sometimes called in sources as Valdemar III. Is it correct for Wikipedia to call this man Valdemar III? How about Valdemar V, Duke of Schleswig or Valdemar of Schleswig, King of Denmark? -- Queen Elizabeth II's Little Spy ( talk) 00:06, 21 November 2010 (UTC) reply
