of great significance to the local Mineng peoples

The article currently says that

The site is of great significance to the local Mineng peoples, [1] ...

  1. ^ Arnold Murray (2012). "A Journey travelled Aboriginal-European relations at Albany" (PDF). University of Western Australia. Retrieved 25 April 2016.

However the reference does not say that at all. What it says (on page 50) is that

an area of rock ... near to the site was used by Aboriginal people as a convenient ford. The site ... is surrounded by extensive artefact scatters ...

There's no doubt that the Aborigines were there, but in the absence of anything specific to say so "used ... as a convenient ford" is not "of great significance".

Is there some more specific mention in that reference that I've missed? Mitch Ames ( talk) 13:31, 27 April 2016 (UTC) reply
