I second this, otherwise the name is fundamentally incorrect. If the rules are written ≠ unwritten rules. Nevermalenko ( talk) 18:19, 8 February 2024 (UTC) reply
Even though I (and others) have written down these unwritten rules, the WP:COMMONNAME for the topic remains "unwritten rules of baseball". –  Muboshgu ( talk) 18:47, 8 February 2024 (UTC) reply
I think that the article name should stay the same because, despite the fact that the rules have been written down, the term “unwritten rule” usually refers to the fact that the rules are informal and are not against any of the actual rules of baseball. More unwritten rules

If it was an unwritten rule that Black men could not play is it still an unwritten rule that women can't play? /mjp ( talk) 23:14, 18 August 2020 (UTC) reply

Women can play major league ball if they can make the team, nobody will deny a woman a place on the roster if she can hit .350 and field like Brooks Robinson. Although it seems surprising nobody has at least let a woman bat just to set that precedent (see Women in baseball as well as the Negro league players Toni Stone, Mamie Johnson, and Connie Morgan). Bill Veeck played a very short person once, Eddie Gaedel, but then the president of the AL closed that door (although I doubt that would be still valid). Another unwritten rule for pitchers

  • Do not publicly criticize the team's offense, even in the National League.

I think there was something about this in The New York Times Magazine a while back. I'll try to find it. Daniel Case ( talk) 04:53, 14 August 2022 (UTC) reply
