Very cool. I am glad to see that someone got the firstie ranks correct. Many people think that C1C/Unranked = C/2LT. Not true! Unranked is thin bar, C/2LT is thick bar. Not that I ever was unranked, of course. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.201.74.252 ( talk) 03:49, 14 February 2006 (UTC) reply

It must've been because the author did a good job learning what was in his Contrails. ;) Tarfu92 15:53, 14 February 2006 (UTC) reply

Additional Insignia

Recommendation for this page: Add other important cadet insignia. Examples: dean/comm list pins, glider solo/IP wings, etc. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.201.74.252 ( talk) 03:49, 14 February 2006 (UTC) reply

I had originally intended to do this (thus the empty "Miscellaneous insignia" section), but haven't had time to hunt down pictures of all of the insignia--particularly the combos that include the AD-pin, which post-date my time there. Tarfu92 15:53, 14 February 2006 (UTC) reply
My Contrails and my scanner are back home, otherwise I'd pitch in. Hopefully a current dink can help out. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.206.202.71 ( talk) 03:48, 27 February 2006 (UTC) reply
As it turns out, the USAF's Airman web site (www.airman.af.mil) has the merit list insignia, so I put them up. If any current/recent dinks have the current criteria for these awards, please feel free to add. Tarfu92 17:48, 21 March 2006 (UTC) reply
And the same for all the glider wings. It used to be just solo & IP, now it looks like there are a couple more. See: http://www.airman.af.mil/military/military_4g.htm A current/recent cadet should upload and add the criteria for award. Tarfu92 17:53, 21 March 2006 (UTC) reply

Wolfpack Insignia

Also, Wolfpack 5 got a new insignia starting Academic Year 2004-2005. I have a huge .jpg file, but no way to edit it... If anyone wants to mess with it, I'll send it. Astrophysicist 03:28, 26 February 2006 (UTC) reply

Group Patches

Recommendation: add cadet group patches. "First Group First." "2nd Group: 2nd to None" etc. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 140.32.16.106 ( talk) 17:27, 25 September 2007 (UT) (UTC)

CS-40

Also, CS-40 Has changed their squadron patch again. They didn't like the one that's on there and they now have a modified version of the original ali baba one. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 140.32.16.106 ( talk) 17:27, 25 September 2007 (UT) (UTC)

No Longer Same Rank Insignia

They changed the rank insignia this year. Four degrees and three degrees have the same but two degrees and firsties have a lot of big changes like the Wing Commander having three stars, the polaris symbol for honor based positions, thin stripes for some ranks for two degrees, and other things. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 140.32.16.101 ( talk) 17:11, 26 August 2009 (UTC) reply

Cool. Nothing like change for the sake of change. I bet someone in CW got a good OPR bullet out of it. - Tarfu92 ( talk) 19:15, 26 August 2009 (UTC) reply
For C/Lt Col, Wing/Group staff has just the three thick bars. Squadron commanders have a star on top, and the the wing Honor Chairman has the Polaris star. 98.203.144.168 ( talk) 01:55, 27 December 2009 (UTC) reply

Missing rank insignia

Two Second Class insignia: three chevrons, with the middle chevron thinner than the other two, one with diamond, one without. Dhtwiki ( talk) 01:57, 28 August 2014 (UTC) reply

This omission was apparently rectified with this edit. Dhtwiki ( talk) 23:54, 8 June 2023 (UTC) reply
